CURRENT TRANSFORMERS
Gas insulated current transformers (66kV to 550kV) are core type supplied with high strength porcelain or silicon rubber bushings. They have short primary windings ensuring even distribution of electrical fields. They are fitted with an internal pressure relief device which is automatically activated as required to prevent the occurrence of an explosion or fire.
CAPACITOR VOLTAGE TRANSFORMERS
Capacitor voltage transformers (CVT’s) are designed for outdoor usage from 145kV to 550kV. Widely used nationally, XD manufactured CVT’s have been exported and successfully installed in numerous countries.
Though a cost effective solution, CVT’s are limited in their ability to measure harmonics, since they are essentially tuned to the system frequency. However, XD CVT’s have the option of being factory fitted with power quality sensors to allow accurate harmonics measurement.
XD CVT’s display good transient response performance suited to fast relay protection.
DIGITAL INSTRUMENT TRANSFORMERS
A range of digital instrument transformers are available, both current and voltage, and are rated from 110kV to 500kV.
